Day 1: Windhoek / Swakopmund. Depart either from Windhoek or Swakopmund to the
northern parts of Namibia. Your first stop will be the magnificent Erongo Mountains. We
recommend driving via Omaruru, where you can visit the Krystall Kellerei, a local vinery.
Overnight on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at Ai Aiba Lodge.

Day 2: Erongo Mountains. Enjoy an early morning hike to the Bushman Art in the vicinity,
before you carry on towards Khorixas, the centre of the Damaraland. Overnight on a dinner,
bed and breakfast basis at Mowani Mountain Lodge.

Day 3: Damaraland. A full day at leisure: Explore the highlights of the Damaraland, the
rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, recently declared to be a world heritage site by Unesco.
Visit the Organ Pipes, the Burnt Mountain and the Petrified Forest! Overnight on a dinner,
bed and breakfast basis at Mowani Mountain Lodge. (At this point you might want to include
the Kaokoland – 8 days extension).

Day 4: Damaraland. Drive via Khorixas and Outjo towards the great Etosha National Park.
This Park is famous for its huge herds of antelope and zebra. Most game is gathering around
the waterholes during the course of the day and it is advisable to have a bit of patience. You
stand a great chance of viewing also big game such as elephant, rhino and lion. Overnight on
a bed and breakfast basis in either Okaukuejo or Halali rest camp, located in the Park.

Day 5: Etosha National Park. A full day of game viewing lies ahead of you and you may
enjoy the vastness of the Park and its centre, the dry saltpan. Overnight on a bed and
breakfast basis in Okaukuejo or Halali rest camp.

Day 6: Etosha National Park. Today you drive to the eastern side of the Etosha National

is definitely worthwhile visiting, with its prolific bird life. Overnight on a dinner, bed and
breakfast basis at Mushara Lodge, located just outside the Van Lindequist Gate of the Park.

Day 7: Etosha National Park. After breakfast you return southwards (At this point you
may want to extend you safari to the Caprivi Strip - see the self-drive itinerary: Caprivi 2009)
to Tsumeb. You might want to visit Lake Otjikoto or the mining museum in Tsumeb. Your
destination is the Waterberg Plateau Park. This dominant landmark was a historic battlefield.
Today it invites to hiking trails on your own and to a nature drive (organized by nature
conservation – not included in price) on top of the Plateau. Overnight on a bed and breakfast
basis at the Waterberg Rest Camp.

Day 8: Waterberg. Return to Windhoek via Okahandja, where you might want to visit the
craft market, which has a great variety in African woodcarvings. Arrive in Windhoek during
the course of the afternoon.
