The Damaraland, home of the Damara people, who live in this desolate and rugged terrain, hosts some of nature’s wonders.
The Petrified Forest, where giant tree trunks turned to stone over millions of years. The Welwitschia mirabillis, an endemic plant to the Namib Desert grows on the stony fields of the Damaraland. Twyfelfontein, resembles a large, open-air art gallery, treasuring one of the richest collections of rock engravings in Africa. 
Some geological curiosities are the Burnt Mountain with its red coloured rock and the Organ Pipes, a mass of basalt slabs.
